Greetings fellow workers and GTFF members. Just a quick note to remind everyone that bargaining for a new contract begins *this* quarter! That is correct, those wages and benefits you have grown to know and love are up for grabs. I say, based on the record number of GTFs signing up to be full members, we should rock the admin's worlds again this go around.
So if you like your dope GTF wages and benefits lifestyle you need to raise your voice and let the our friends in Johnston Hall know they picked the wrong group of hard core unionized graduate workers to mess with. Come on down to bargaining to see the bizarre logic of those who don't think you deserve a decent salary, working conditions, and health insurance in inaction.
The most immediate thing you can do as a union member to ensure a successful contract is to sign up any straggling non-union members in your department. It is surprisingly easy and the feeling you receive from dropping off a newly minted full member's card by the office, is, well, pick your favorite substance of recreation and drop either the side effects or legal ramifications and you *begin* to get it. Bottom line: 1350 demanding something makes more of an impact than 36.
Stay Strong,
Glenn
